GROOMING PRICES
The price for the groom of your dog will be based on the factors listed below. The price may vary for each visit, depending on the condition of the coat and the type of clip to be done.
Size of the Dog:
The body size, the weight and the length of the dog’s legs will be used to determine the size of the dog. The breed of the dog does not determine the size. For example: a labradoodle may be classified as a medium, large or extra-large.
Condition of the Coat:
The length of the coat, the presence of any mats, the presence of any pelting (dreadlocks) and the amount of undergrowth will all be taken into account to determine the price for the groom. It takes much longer to groom a dog with an overgrown coat, mats, dreadlocks or a thick undercoat. Great care must be taken as it can be dangerous and it is stressful for the dog and the groomer.
Regular grooming is recommended, usually a maximum of 8 weeks apart, to ensure that the coat remains in a good condition with no mats, dreadlocks or excessive undergrowth.
It is important for owners to brush theirdogs regularly as that maintains a healthy coat.
Type of groom:
The prices for various cuts vary as they do not take the same time to complete.
Breed specific grooms, teddy bear grooms and stripping or de-shedding dogs will all cost more than the basic groom.
The cost of a mini-groom will be less than the basic groom.
Please see the services section for a detailed description of the various types of grooms.
EXAMPLES OF DOG SIZES:
Small – Toy Poodles, Maltese, Shih Tzu, Small Cavoodle
Medium – Mini Poodle, Bichon, Small Schnauzer, Westie
Large –Cavaliers, Large Poodles, Spoodles, Cocker Spaniels
Extra Large – Standard Poodles, Golden Retrievers, Labrador, Border Collie
BEST PRACTICE:
To ensure that the dog’s coat is maintained in a good condition it is important to brush the dog regularly, bath the dog at least fortnightly and have grooming done regularly, usually every 8 weeks. That will ensure that the dog has no mats, dreadlocks or excessive undergrowth.
The dog will then have a grooming session that can be completed quickly and without any discomfort. This will ensure that the dog will associate the salon with a pleasant visit and will build good rapport between the dog and the groomer.
